Kanazawa Science Academy fosters a sustainable research environment and offers comprehensive guidance, promoting continuous intellectual growth and collaboration. This academy nurtures physician-scientists with a deep understanding of basic research, enabling them to advance world-class medical science while implementing work-style reforms among doctors.
In general, instruction and training on the basic skills (techniques for experiments, research plans, writing papers, etc.) necessary for a rising researcher have been provided individually in each laboratory under the supervision of principal investigators. By offering this opportunity, Kanazawa Science Academy aims to establish a high-caliber educational system and research environment while boosting the research capabilities of young researchers.
Kanazawa Science Academy assigns full-time training faculty members and technical staff to guide physician-scientists in research skills, data analysis, chart creation, paper writing, English proofreading, and more. Based on students’ skill levels and aptitude, they can seamlessly progress from their bachelor’s degree level to postgraduate medical research training and a doctoral program at graduate school. This system will allow well-trained students to serve as MAA (Medical Academic Assistant) and provide instruction and training to younger students as instructors.
Human Resources Division registers the individual data of Kanazawa Science Academy students. They then match subscribers with basic and clinical laboratories in our medical school and other labs in science, engineering, humanities, and social sciences aligned with their skills and interests. By providing teaching and research assistance (TA/RA) as MAA, they can actively contribute to education and research programs, improve their skills, and cultivate awareness of interdisciplinary research by being involved in research of other fields.
At Kanazawa Science Academy, we aim to instill a research mindset from the undergraduate level onwards in students, and to provide a seamless educational environment pre- and post-graduation.
By collaborating with our partner Kanazawa Medical University, we aim to combine our research strengths and provide instruction and training in a wide range of cutting-edge research fields. Additionally, we aim to facilitate engagement between students from Kanazawa Medical University and the Kanazawa Science Academy, providing opportunities for research guidance and collaborative research and serving as a model for cultivating physician-scientists.

Philosophy
Near‐peer teaching, multi-layered education forms a team structure where strong connections are built through teaching and being taught simultaneously, akin to roof tiles becoming stronger when stacked.
Each student and researcher will look to a senior colleague as their mentor and be responsible for providing educational guidance to their juniors. Teaching others provides an opportunity to deepen one’s own learning, and as a result, everyone supports each other’s learning.
